I view photography as a language; it is characterized by the uncounted variations of light, form, color and texture. Photography has its own vocabulary in an ever changing, rich context. I use it for communication in its most pure form, that is, to attempt to capture the poetry of everyday objects fixed in time.

Driven by the prophetic statement of the Prophet Muhammad – “The Earth is your Mother, so take care of your Mother” I have endeavored in my photography to portray a spiritual facet of Mother Earth that teaches us how to live together in peace just as the diverse natural world does every day.

My photographs are noted by their rich colors and textures, strong composition, and intriguing subject matter. They most often include a structure with a story to tell, such as a rustic wooden boat or an old doorway. They evoke thoughts of days gone by, a simpler time, a forgotten memory.

Abstract nature photography has been my passion in the last few years.  Using a macro lens, I move in and search among the stems and petals and leaves to see the patterns of color, light and structure--and the little surprises.  Abstract sculptures and paintings appear.

I believe that our world is full or color and texture that should be celebrated and that multiple layers exist within each of us and within our world. As those layers are revealed through photography, they awaken the humanity within each of us. That an image can open us up to a new layer of ourselves is magical.  I feel a bit of this magic as I capture each interaction in a frozen moment.

These panoramic landscape images allow you to "step inside" the captured, vibrant scenes and relive the moment in time. I shoot very wide angle photographs to closely approximate an expression of visual reality. In turn, this creates a tension between the strange and the familiar in our lives.

I see so much beauty in the world: heart-opening bits of right-now that I try to capture with the camera so that others can see it too, and share the deep, welling-up of enchantment and peace found in those flickering moments.
